FAQ's

How many Staple Rails do I add to my swim step?
There is no standard quantity of rails, it is all based on the look you want to achieve with your vessel. A variety of sizes can be ordered, thus you have the option to use fewer wide Staple Rails or more narrow Staple Rails depending on your desired aesthetic.

How far apart do I space out my Staple Rails on my swim step?
Since Staple Rails can vary in size, the distance between rails can be as wide or as narrow as you would like. We recommend leaving at least a 1.5" gap between the base plate flange to ensure proper structural integrity for mounting.

Do the removable and fixed rails look different?
Our technology at Tanner Manufacturing allows us to produce identical looks for both fixed and removable Staple Rails. When installed on your vessel, virtually no difference between the styles can be detected.

Are all removable staple rail sockets the same?
Staple rail sockets have the option to have drain holes or no drain holes. For instances when the swim platform is part of the hull, we offer threaded drain couplers to route drain water to a desired location. All sockets are the same except for variation in drain holes.

What is the advantage of a mid rail cross member?
A mid-rail can provide an extra hand when moving from tender to vessel, a piece of mind when children are on board, and excellent addition to the look of your Staple Rails.

What is a removable mid-rail rope spooler bar?
Although our removable mid-rail looks nearly identical to our fixed mid-rail, this option allows you to stern tie to the shore or anchor system with a rope spool. This can be a valuable time saving feature when it comes time to secure your vessel.

How do I install my new Staple Rail?
At the bottom of this page, both types of Staple Rail installation guides can be downloaded by clicking on the specified buttons for your type of rail.

What is the Staple Rail return policy?
At Tanner Manufacturing we fabricate most rails custom to each job at the highest quality of workmanship. This poses additional issues when attempting to return products due to cost prohibitive shipping and uniqueness to each customer. We strive to provide the best customer service to ensure products are made correctly the first time. Please double check all measurements when purchasing Staple Rails through our online store. WE DO NOT OFFER RETURNS FOR ANY PRODUCTS. We continue to provide support for any questions you may have and are more than willing to alleviate any factory defects or manufacturing issues.
